INUNDATED with public complaints on the traffic congestion in Jalan Telawi, Bangsar every day police swung into action and towed away eight vehicles parked illegally and causing obstruction.

“The police have to step in because City Hall enforcement officers were finding it difficult to put up with the brickbats thrown at them for trying to maintain law and order,”

A housewife with two children was told by a police officer that she could retrieve her vehicle at the Jalan Tun H.S. Lee station after paying a RM300 in fine for traffic obstruction.

There was some confusion when the police stopped to tow away a luxury car parked in front of Papa Rich outlet as it was not a parking bay.

A patron of the cafe outlet said the spot had been identified as a parking bay but City Hall had yet to mark the area with yellow paint.

A City Hall enforcement officer admitted the oversight and the vehicle was spared from being towed away.

Another operation was conducted in Pudu where two vehicles were towed away near the Pudu Plaza, along Jalan Landak.
